Hi everyone,
I just wanted to let you know that finally CAELinux 2010 is officially released. It is now the 8th release of CAELinux in about 5 years of continuous evolution.
For those who don't know it yet, CAELinux 2010 is a LiveDVD Linux distribution based on Ubuntu 10.04 AMD64 that has been heavily customized to include a vast range of Computer Aided Engineering & scientific modeling and simulation software.
CAELinux 2010 comes pre-installed and pre-configured for direct use of Salome-Meca 2010 and Code-Aster 10.1 (64bit, OpenMP and MPI versions), Code-Saturne 2.0rc1 (CFD,64bit,MPI), OpenFOAM 1.7 (CFD,64bit/MPI) or ElmerFEM 5.5 (64bit/MPI).
Other simulation codes like Impact, Gerris, Fenics, Calculix, Javafoil are also included in their latest versions. It also contains numerous CAD / pre / post processors and meshers like Salome 5.1.3, Paraview, GMSH, openDX, Netgen, Engrid, Discretizer, SnappyHexMesh, Tetgen, VoxelMesher, FreeCAD, QCAD, sagcad, Meshlab. Along with a lot of math/programming tools like Octave/QtOctave, R/Rkward, Scilab and wxMaxima, you will also find a complete install of Latex and OpenOffice, numerous scientific plotting & data analysis tools and 2D/3D image processing & segmentation software.
Overall, in this 3.7 Gb DVD (12Gb uncompressed), you will find a complete scientific / CAE workstation that is ready to use out of the box. CAELinux can be runned from the liveDVD directly, installed on USB stick or installed on harddisk for better performance. Thanks to the latest developments of Ubuntu, CAELinux 2010 has now builtin open source 3D accelerated graphic drivers for most of the recent graphic cards from ATI/Nvidia and thus you can start working directly without the need to install proprietary drivers.
I really hope that you will enjoy this new release.
