I share with you a repository with different scripts/plugins for Salome_Meca (and Salome), each script has its own interface and we can access them from the interface of the Salome platform using the option pulgins_manager.

I update this old repository with different scripts/plugins for Salome (GEOM/SMESH) to work in new versions of Salome and Salome Meca.

I don't know if filter group could add edges of a hole in shell to a group. If yes, then tell me where to send you a beer! I've been looking for something like pick a loop by right clicking on an edge for a while.

great work, looking forward to even more useful tools. I overlooked this for how many years now??

My most common problems in Salome_meca are complicated geometries from other CAD software (which look and are fine in the other packages), that very often have errors (excess lines, holes, missing faces, non-closed faces, intersecting faces or lines etc.), sometimes even hundreds or thousands of errors. So my wishes are mostly going toward more and better (automatic) repairing tools in Salome. With erroneous geometries, Limit_Tolerance does often not even work, and that's a very basic command. I understand that this involves serious topological measures, but that's the way it is.

@k_zurawski you can create a group using one of the circles as a reference, and then use the “Create Groups From Filters” plugin to create a group with all the circles of the same radius.

@mf, thank you. You are right — Salome is not very user-friendly for fixing, cleaning, or repairing geometries. But have you tried the "Features → Defeaturing" tool in the Shaper Module to clean up shapes? It’s very useful for removing excess lines, small surfaces, or fillets.

no, I never use the shaper. However, I tried. It seems to remove faces, perhaps like the other command in the Geometry module. In this case I tried with a difficult geometry, where I can't even see the error and it failed to remove faces. Throws an error and does nothing, but thanks,

Hello, I add 2 new plugins.

1 - In Geom Module --> Hole Partition
Creates a radial “pad” layout, splitting the area around a hole into four blocks suitable for mapped meshing. It supports two sizing modes for the quadrilateral layout and two partition styles: orthogonal and diagonal.

2 - Edge Element Distribution - Number of Elements
Displays a three-dimensional visualization of the number of mesh elements along each edge of a mesh or mesh group, providing an immediate view of edge-wise element distribution. Note: Performance is not optimal; I recommend using mesh groups rather than a global mesh.

Important note: I’m not a programmer. The code is a work in progress—contributions to improve quality (refactoring, tests, docs) are welcome.

Hello,

I included your plugins via binding, but this does not work:

singularity run --app install -B /home/mario/.config/salome/Plugins salome_meca-lgpl-2024.1.0-1-20240327-scibian-11.sif

The binding is not done.

But when I:

"singularity run --nv -B /home/mario/.config/salome/Plugins salome_meca-lgpl-2024.1.0-1-20240327-scibian-11.sif"

the binding works, but Asterstudy doesn't.
So I'll switch between the two, I won't need the plugins often I think.
I also tried installing Salome 9.15 standalone, but this is, excuse my language, a complete mess.

However, in your video you also show a plugin named "Internal Contour". This does not seem to be included on the GitHub. Is it missing?

EDIT: when I use Salome such that the Plugins work, I save the file. Next time I open it, it takes forever to load, the file seems to be garbage.

1) You can run Salome_Meca in a Singularity container using the following command:

singularity exec --bind /home/$USER/.config/salome:/home/salome/.config/salome salome_meca-lgpl-2024.1.0-1-20240327-scibian-11.sif salome

2) Regarding the Internal Contour plugin, I’m going to code a new one because the old plugin didn’t work in all cases. It uses some repair filters that only work in a few specific situations.

3) I’ll also investigate the last issue you mentioned, about the delay when closing a file. Could you please tell me which plugin you were using when that happened?

ad 1) sorry, that doesn't work 100%. The command does bind the script folder but AsterStudy crashes on opening.
I think it is mainly because I cannot enter "export RDMAV_FORK_SAFE=1" on my system. Which I need, for reasons unknown to me.

ad 2) thanks, for me, this would be the most useful script.

ad 3) it was the opening of the file. Although it was not large in size, it took forever (like 10 mins or so). But the file was ok in the end, I was too impatient. I mainly used the filter plugin, to circumvent the "internal contour" not being available (lots of similar faces inside my model...).

I add 2 new plugins.

1) A simple unit converte tool (Tools --> Plugins --> Units Converter)

2) Mesh Module: Convert Free Nodes to 0D elements --> Detect free nodes in the selected mesh and generate 0D elements at those locations. It is necessary to Update the view/mesh or show the created 0D node group (OD_FreeNodes) to see the new elements.
