I do not know of such a command in Salome. However, it is quite easy and should not take more than 5 minutes:
1) create points on edges (with 'by length', though also other possibilities)
2) connect them with lines
3) do a partition of your body with these lines
4) voila--> segmented face

EDIT: the purpose is to create surface groups and to mesh the differently, right?
