I am running a DYNA_NON_LINE calculation with a model consisting of:
1d beam (mesh SEG2) -> mesh of 21 elements SEG2
2d section (mesh TRIA3), affecting the beam with MACR_CARA_POUTRE -> mesh of 400 elements TRIA3
3d brackets (supports), that hold the beam -> mesh of 42000 elements TETRA4
The objective is to calculate deformation and stress at the brackets when an object is dropped from 2 meters and left hanging from the beam. I would also know which is the force on the beam caused by this drop.
To do so, I have split the case in 2 stages, first one to setup the mesh, model, material, etc. I apply gravity (to have a load, because if not the calculation fails) and a speed with CREA_CAMP (equivalent to the 2 m fall, according to formula v=sqr(2gH) ):

But I have some doubts:
- Is correct to impose the speed as CREA_CHAMP at the end of stage 1 and run the calculation at stage 2?
- Is "HHT - deplacement" the correct schema? (It took it from jeanpierreaubry's book)
- In my case, shouldn't it be "HHT - vitesse"? I tried but it says that is not compatible...
- What is the difference between schemas Newmark and HHT ? I read U4.53.01, chapter 3.19 but it is not clear about cases of use...
- The calculation is running for 3 days now, which leads me to think there is something wrong with the setup...
- Any help or idea about the physical phenonmenon will be welcome.
