Hello everyone,

Based on all the previous feedback, hereby a new link (2024.1 WSL verified)

Particularly

fixed the launch scripts for as_run, astk and run_aster and tested all 3 scripts.
fixed the paravis crash when switching from asterstudy.
fixed the graphics in the europlexus module and added the limited Education & Research version of the Europlexus solver provided by CEA (version 2025).
Pre-configured Salome Meca with Europlexus and did some tests.
Fixed the welcome message.

You can safely remove the previous testing distribution using the command

wsl --unregister smeca-2024

and then import the new one in C:\smeca (or any location)

hberro THANK YOU. I love the new run_aster tool, this is what I always wanted. In fact, my homemade tools are now obsolete.
When will this be on the official Code_Aster "Download" page (not updated since 2020)?

I really think that there is an installation problem with WSL2 and not this distribution in particular. Are you using Windows 10 or Windows 11. This distribution was tested on WSL2 and will not work in WSL1 which does not handle graphics correctly.

In a power shell with Administrator rights, can you try

wsl --install

and

wsl --set-default-version 2

Some users have previously reported that completely removing WSL2 then reinstalling it fixes some issues.

I'm running the latest provided "VM" on Windows 11 with WSL2. If you are running WSL2 before you run smeca-2024 write in powershell:

wsl --shutdown
wsl --update
wsl -d smeca-2024

then show us if you still have the graphics problem.

Unharmful message, probably the default server (local machine) was defined twice in salome_meca's configuration.

Hello again,
please check if you can recreate the same issue.

Set-up a simple linear study.
In AsterStudy:
Set too little RAM to finish the study.
Run the study, cancel after a while.
Change RAM setting to correct value.
Run the study again.

In my case I got error (red dot) in AsterStudy, the information was that there's a folder missing. I deleted the job in AsterStudy and run a new one hoping that it will overwrite the folder. The missing folder was already there.
The study has been running for a while and won't finish. I've attached entries from terminal.

rmoortgat I also have the same situation, Intel + nVidia RTX. Check in Windows if you can setup priority for one of the cards. Check if you can disable one in BIOS. I have this option in my workstation.

That's a very good configuration. I don't think having dual graphics card is an issue for WSL2.

I recommend that you try to install Ubuntu from the Microsoft store and see if you can open, let's say gedit (editor) inside it.

What you are missing is WSLg (graphical module of WSL) which handles the display / X-server to windows forwarding. WSLg is supposed to be included in WSL2.

Try the official Microsoft Ubuntu, perhaps by installing that package it reconfigures something else that would help.

Hello,
it seems that SM2024 WSL is working more or less stable. I'm getting crashes from time to time and there's a problem with Paravis/Paraview and med files. But it is like that in 9.13 standalone also.

And the BIG question is - where to send beer for helping out?

I have been trying all sorts of things and all of a sudden it works. I suppose installing NVIDIA CUDA did the trick.

But I must say that there's still issue with loosing link to results caused by vtkMEDreader or something related to MED reader. It's been an issue with Paravis 9.10, 9.12 and 9.13 on Windows (standalone and also with 9.12 in Salome_Meca 2024). Whenever I close and reopen a study, and I launch to Paravis, I'm getting a list of issues in terminal. For example:

Viewport is empty (which is obvious since MED reader don't know what to read), but there is everything in pipeline as was saved before exiting. If I click at anything in the pipeline I'm getting a crash. The only way to see the results is clicking on "reset session" button and postprocessing from scratch.

I reported that on Salome-Platform and Paraview forum some time ago hoping that someone will look into it. Either this is related only to Windows versions or is not replicable on some other PCs.
