Salome Meca 2024.1 on WSL2 ready to use distribution

Although salome_meca is working, when I call as_run it says <F>_FILE_NOT_FOUND file not found : config.txt.
If I create a config.txt file but leave it empty:

Why is it missing? Where can I find it?

Edit: I copied the one from /opt/salome_meca/V2024.1.0_scibian_univ/tools/Code_aster_stable-1670/share/aster/config.txt into my folder and it worked.

Hi.
I am new to SM and still learning how to run. I had installed the software as suggested above and it was working fine. Occasionally I get saving error. Then I shut down and restart and then the issue disappears, most of the times.
All was fine till yesterday when suddenly I saw this error in the command window while saving the file:
"
Component implementation not found: PARAVIS
Component PARAVIS: Can't find C++ implementation libPARAVISEngine.so
Component PARAVIS: Can't find python implementation PARAVIS(.py)
Component PARAVIS: Can't find executable implementation PARAVIS.exe
"
Multiple reinstallations and restarts couldn't make the program run again.
What could be the issue here? Intentionally, I have not deleted any programs or software's from my computer.

Reinstalled again just now, but no success!
Any suggestions?

After months of studying documentation, following various tutorials multiple times and many trial runs that ended in errors or nonconvergence, I have just been able to do a nonlinear hyper elastic material simulation with contact. It's not perfect or accurate; but some success. Now I am helpless! Even after multiple reinstallations, I get the same message and the program shuts down!

Hello,

Could you provide a more complete log from the moment you start the wsl2 distrib till the launching of Salome Meca ? If you can record a short video showing the terminal output, we can help you better.

PARAVIS errors may be misleading and masking the actual problem especially if you are not visualizing a result when the program crashes...

hberro Thank you for your response. Since I had already removed the smeca-2024 installation, I installed it again (as explained in this forum) and ran a simulation. I did record the terminal, but unable to attach because of the upload size limit. Hence attaching the recording as two screenshots.
The screen recording is of the terminal output from the moment the file opened, to the failure, and exit of the program. I hope this is what you meant.

So Salome starts correctly? And then crashes when you load asterstudy ?

What if you just use GEOM SMSH PARAVIS, does it work fine ?

Do you have enough space and write permission on the disk where the wsl distrib is imported ?

Hello.
Salome starts correctly and it crashes when I launch AsterStudy. I have enough space and write permissions.
I did a step-by-step analysis of the simulation set up to understand when the problem occurs.
I was able to do all the steps and save them without any problem. Even the Paravis was functioning normally.
What I observed was, whenever AsterStudy module is launched, in some studies, the option to select "stable" version doesn't show up and then the problem as I explained above happens.
After this I did couple of studies taking care to select "Stable" AsterStudy version and those studies did not crash. However, sometimes still, the option to select 'stable' version does not show up. I then close the program and restart it.
If this was really the problem, I am satisfied with this solution. I will monitor this for some days and report.

After couple of successful runs, the same error started.
As I said in my last post, the message window to select 'Stable' version of AsterStudy is not shown and AsterStudy is launched immediately. Then it crashes and the previously shared messages are displayed in the terminal. Restarting did not work.
Studies where the window to select 'Stable' version of AsterStudy is displayed works perfectly fine.

Ok, when Asterstudy is started, PARAVIS is loaded in the background because it is used by the module's post processor.

Try activating manually Paravis before Asterstudy, and report the results please.

Does the distro support parallel execution of MUMPS or PETSC? (needs to be enabled during compilation)

Does Salome start in hardware rendering mode if an NVIDIA GPU is available? According to your screen prints the MESA driver is set up.

This installation approach doesn't have limitations related to singularity containers. If you have a recent nvidia GPU card with WSL support, it should be used for hardware acceleration.

My personal setup invoves an older nvidia card that does not support recent drivers that cover WSL, that's why mesa drivers are used.

Not sure whether this is the right place to ask, if not please direct me.
My Installation is as per this original thread and runs fine.
However, when I set up an analysis with two stages, Stage_2 input is the .rmed of Stage_1,
the Stage_1 runs successfully. the Stage_2 exited with the following error.
Perplexity couldn't help me much other than suggesting running 'ulimit -n 4096', wsl updates and reboots.
Memory is ok with 32 GB/1TB over all and allocated to WSL 16GB:

I would run the analysis (2 steps) on a linux machine to see if it's really a wsl issue or something else.

I haven't encountered such an error on my side and the messages don't seem to arise from code_aster...

I do not have a dedicated Linux machine. Will this work on an Ubuntu desktop installed in a PC which I access while booting? If yes, any specific steps to be followed?

Today I got a desktop pc to test the Linux version of Salome_Meca. I downloaded the 9 Jan 2025 version from Code_aster.org site and installed it. Geometry and Mesh modules were working as expected. However, though the AsterStudy module was launched as the Stable Version, it was never loading. Ignoring this warning, I tried to set up a study using the assistant and it crashed while selecting the output file save location.
Has anyone did successful installation and run of the latest singularity version. Linux distribution is Ubuntu-22.04.

I am getting an error when I try to open the CodeAster postprocessor or Paraview on an old case study that I reopen. I have seen in the forum that other people with the same problem, but I do not know if there is any fix available. Below you can see the errors that I get on the console before the crash.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Could you download Salome 9.14 standalone for Windows and check if the same thing happens? I had a lot of SIGSEGV errors on S_M 2024 WSL.

The problem I showed earlier occurred when I attempted to use the Codeaster postprocessor, as well as when I tried to activate the Paraview module in the WSL version. However, if I open a new Salome study and only import the previous results (.med file) into Paraview (without using any other modules), it works, even in the WSL version. I do not know if there is a solution to keep using the same Salome study, whether it is with the CodeAster postprocessor (preferred) or the Paraview module. If you still need me to try it with Salome 9.14 Standalone, please tell me.

I don't need you to do anything. Sadly, I can't help with AsterStudy post processing and Paravis. I briefly tested them while this WSL package was shared. I had stability issues (crashes) and SIGSEGV errors. I'm using Salome Platform v9.14 and Paraview 6.0. Both standalone, Windows versions. I'm running studies manually in terminal using this WSL port of Salome_Meca.
