Installing Salome Meca 2024.1 on Red Hat 8.0 using a container

Hi, my company uses Red Hat on its Linux servers. I have tried to install the scibian 11 container for salome_meca-lgpl-2024.1.0-1-20240327, but with no luck. Is this down to a compatibility problem between scibian and Red Hat? Could you suggest a different container to try that is more likely to be compatible with Red Hat? It may not be a compatibility problem, but I think this is the likely cause of the problem.

I did get the following:
WARNING: Could not find any nv files on this host!
But it's only a warning, so I guess this isn't stopping SM from starting.
I have set my DISPLAY variable.
SM appears to be running in software rendering mode, even though I didn't ask it to, but that seems OK.

Alternatively, it could be a configuration issue, although I wouldn't know how to fix that.

I suppose the idea of using a Container is to make it portable, i.e. it should be able to run on Red Hat without issue. Have I go that right?

I am using Singularity ver 4.1.1-1.el8 - is this compatible with the Scibian 11 container?

Maybe this problem is already solved, but it might help others if you don't need a container.
I tested the installation on Fedora 42 and freshly installed AlmaLinux8+9 (inside of a Ubuntu VM) with simple download of the 9.15 Linux Universal and Fedora 42 version.
On both Linux versions it's running like a charm. Only downloaded and unpacked the files in my opt/ Folder.

Let me know if someone would like to continue testing on AlmaLinux + VNC, which is binary compatible to RHEL from Red Hat.
